Your product dossier and labels kept up to date
Even if you don't make anything. The European Product Safety Regulation looks at who puts a product on the market under their name, not who assembled it. For thousands of webshops with own-brand products, this means the most demanding role under the law — without them knowing it.
Four questions, no account, and with each answer the location in the regulation.
What webshops say about this
"We don't make anything, we just resell"
Then everything depends on one thing: is your name or brand on the product? If yes, then you are a manufacturer under the GPSR, with a risk analysis per product, technical documentation, your own address on the label and six years of records. If your supplier's brand is on it and you don't change anything, then you are a distributor — and then you don't need any of that.
Which of the two am I? →"Surely we'll get a letter if something is wrong"
Usually there is no letter but an email from bol or Amazon, or a shipment that gets held at the border. Online marketplaces must remove dangerous products within two working days and pass this requirement on to their sellers. In practice, you will hear from them before the supervisor does.
What happens then →"That information is in the manual"
That is not enough. The required information must be on the product page itself, accessible within one click and in the language of the consumer. In the Netherlands, that means Dutch — English or German is not sufficient, even if your customers speak those languages. And a QR code that points to it does not count either.
What exactly must be on it →Why you can check us
Under each topic is where it comes from: the article from Regulation (EU) 2023/988 itself. The GPSR is a regulation — one text, directly applicable in all twenty-seven member states — so we can refer to the law and not to a national interpretation of it.
What we mention in addition, we call that too. What bol and Amazon ask for in their fields is not law: the regulation says what must be there, the marketplace determines how it wants it delivered. That difference is stated at each source. And for each country is the date we last checked the supervisor — for countries we haven't yet checked, that is stated there instead of something plausible.
The texts are written with AI based on those sources, go through a technical check that places every claim next to its source, and are approved by a human before they appear. See how we work.
What this is not: we never give an opinion on the safety of a product. Our templates structure your risk analysis; the conclusion is yours, and the assessment of the supervisor. We never state that something is "GPSR-proof". We do not conduct product tests and no CE assessments. And we never act as EU-responsible or authorized representative ourselves — that role carries product liability, and for that we refer you to specialized partners.
